Language certification: an "added value"

Language certification is an official document, issued by Italian universities or bodies accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attesting knowledge of Italian in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) approved by the Council of Europe. It is obtained by passing tests covering all four language skills: reading — writing — listening — speaking.

Accredited bodies (the "CLIQ" agreement, since February 2013): Roma Tre University, University for Foreigners of Siena, University for Foreigners of Perugia, Società Dante Alighieri.

The CEFR has six levels: A1 – A2 – B1 – B2 – C1 – C2. For young students, certification exams are available up to level B2.
